The Cailleach is an ancient and prolific deity in Celtic mythology. She has many names such as the Veiled One or Beira, Queen of Winter. She is goddess of winter storms and forged the landscape. In a portion of her mythos she carries stones as she strides across the land and drops the stones; forging the cliffs, hills, and mountains of the land. She is depicted as a hag or crone goddess.
