8.5×11 print on 60lb matte paper

Yule or the Winter Solstice is makes its way on the wheel. This time ushers in a new beginning like a lantern showing the way through the darkness. The longest night was often a time of scarcity met with fear of what the darkness brings. Our ancestors faced this darkness with reverence for it, honoring the spirits in order to bring good fortune, and protection into this bitter season ahead. The evergreens were brought inward as well as the candles that represented the absent sunlight. Feasts and merriment were made to celebrate the return of the sun, as the days ahead will slowly , but surely get brighter. There is still many cold dark days ahead, but with raising the spirit of the sun, hope is reborn out of the darkness.
